We checked this book out from the library. Some of the stories made me cry! Very inspiring. I was overall very delighted to read this books to my little boys and explain to them what healthy masculinity looks like. To be honest, not every story was equally impressive, and one or two I just skipped altogether. Some of the figures mentioned were people who had some really dark sides, people who I wouldn't particularly want my kids to emulate in every single area, but let's be honest: nobody's perfect. This book did a good job of showing how each man or boy exemplified a good character trait. I think that is really valuable, because I do want to teach my boys to look for the good in everyone - even if that person has said/done some unpleasant things, or holds other values that are less healthy. Focusing on the good for a minute doesn't mean we are going to ignore the unpleasant parts of that person's life. I think this would be a perfect "bedtime story" book for pre-k through grade school aged boys, so they can focus on positive thoughts before going to sleep.
